AI Reimagines Biblical Characters

Dating back to the early centuries, Biblical figures have always been a subject of interest for artists. The Renaissance was heavily influenced by Christianity in its art and philosophy.

Considering the popularity of AI Art lately… what if we used an AI text-to-image model to generate images of biblical characters as described in the Bible?

Unfortunately, there are not a lot of physical descriptions in the Bible to work with, but there are some. The AI generative tool I used for this exercise was Midjourney.

The first section of this article titled “Biblical Descriptions” is text descriptions taken directly from the Bible. The only thing I added was a person type as well as context of time such as Ancient Middle Eastern Man. This is to make sure that AI understands what era and geo-location is being rendered.

The second section titled “Traditional Descriptions” is not from the Bible but based on traditional interpretations. While this isn’t directly from the Bible, it is still interesting to see how the characters are interpreted via the billions of trained images and art.
