I do worry what these students are going to do when they hit the real world and find out that a supportive, trauma-informed, social justice advocate is not going to be available to lead talking circles every time there’s a conflict on the job, halting work on the bridge being repaired, the meals being prepared, the surgery being conducted, etc. But then again, given that the alternative in this case was a lesson on “gender roles and the media” I guess the students might as well be participating in a talking circle.
