Lifesaving Sports Scene in Singapore

For the last 39 years, the National Lifesaving Championships have been an annual affair eagerly looked forward to by hundreds in the fraternity. As the Championships turn 40 this year, I decided to start a mini project to document the journey of this competitive sport through visuals. Hopefully at its 45th year, we would have sufficient resources to publish a book on it, or something of commemorative value.

The lifesaving-sports scene has grown considerably in Singapore, albeit rather slowly. I urge those in the community to continue the proliferation of lifesaving as a legitimate sport.

Feel free to follow us on Instagram @lifesavingsingapore for frequent updates of the sport, or contact me at pearlyn.yapse@gmail.com if you’d like to contribute in one way or another.

Many thanks to the photographers and contributors who have helped made #LifesavingSingapore possible so far!
