When You Decided to Become an Adult

Are 18 years enough? How about 19 or 21?

We become an adult once our age hits a milestone like that.

It’s a weird concept to think about. There’s one day in your life when during a 24-hour period everything changes.

You could not drink, smoke cigarettes or watch porn but now you can.

The full punishment for certain crimes wouldn’t apply to you but now it does.

In some places, you were not trusted to drive a car until the day before but now you are.

It must have been a special day with all those changes. But do you even remember that day? Did you just wake up and call yourself an adult?

You see, changes don’t happen overnight, especially when it comes to personalities.

It takes years of evolution and during that time we’re always changing. Just like nature, and seasons.

But for some reason, we’re forced by the society to fit within this framework of age. You’re either a child, a teen or an adult.

Sometimes it’s clear when you pass through those milestones but sometimes is not. You know why?

Because we are all unique. There are children that act like adults and then there are adults that act like teens or children.

Being an adult is a boring label we stick on ourselves when we move out of our parents’ house and now have to pay rent. That’s one of those first times when you realize you’re on your own.

Responsibilities kick in and instead of getting lost in your imagination, you feel lost by looking at your bills.

But does it have to stay this way? Do you have to be either a child or an adult?

Good news! No, you don’t have to. You’re free to do whatever you want to do. We are forced to these labels but we also have the choice to not being bound by them.

You can have the responsibility of an adult but the imagination of a child.

You can be a selfless adult to serve others but also a selfish child to care for yourself.

You can exercise in a gym like an adult or you can go play outside like a child.

The possibilities of mixing these two worlds are endless. When you start seeing your life like this you’ll develop an abundance mindset.

With that mindset, you’re not constrained by society’s limitations and what others expect of you. It all becomes about you and how you want to live your life.

After all, it’s your life and you’ve got one chance at it (at least in this form and shape). So who cares.

I hope this has inspired you to see this whole child and adult thing from a different view and I’d love to hear about your experience with this topic.
