The guy who wrote the app must be awesome :D

I think my experience last year was even worst than yours. I didn’t sleep in the last day before the opening keynote just to finsih the development of the app and to be sure that everything worked (or the majority part of it). It was a marathon. And the whole app was developed in two weeks or so.

The funniest part was that the app was live all week in development mode (webrick ftw) in one of our machines. Who needs Heroku? Ahah
