To be honest, if you simply stop the central scheduler the worker will continue to execute the current task and will only stop when it’s time to start the next one.
I agree with you. There are workarounds for that, like creating applications in a standard way so that you can cancel running jobs by making an HTTP request. If you have something like that, you could fork Luigi and create your own abort button for the central scheduler.
I also would like to have a button to force retry jobs. It’s something that does not go really well with the Luigi execution model, but might be useful in some cases.
