Well .. My first thought. I think there bit more to take in to the account when comparing a “UniCo” vs. “CorpOx” model.

One golden rule in business is, that that if this business is very fast growing (e.g UniCo) or some business area for a bigger corporation (e.g UniCo model inside CorpOx), then keep the IT as close to the business as possible (and do not bother so much about efficiency, following “standard” processes etc.) as THE GOAL is to get the biggest market share ASAP! When the market matures .. then centralize (or even outsource) the IT part .. which does not provide anymore a difference from competitors. I think that a pretty good example from a “recent” history is e-banking. Used to be a unique selling point, but now a commodity.
