Monsoon
Monsoon is the season of rain. This season showers elixir from the heaven in the form of rain, it replenishes the earth and quenches its thirst. It helps support vegetation and fills our rivers and lake.
The season which ends the scorching heat and brings coolness to us, it provides us with fresh air and helps start a new life on earth. It is the season where people sit back on their holiday and enjoy ‘Tea and pakodas' while enjoying the refreshing smell of soil and sand.
However in the ‘Modern World,' no one gets to enjoy this season. Everyone is busy in his or her life, rather than enjoying the relaxed environment we are worried about the coagulated water on the road or concerned about getting our clothes dirty. Due to a poor draining system and ill-maintained roads, water gets accumulated everywhere not only it causes enormous traffic jam but also becomes breeding ground for diseases. In the past children used to go out in the rain and have fun, but now everyone stays indoor and prepare themselves for the extended power cuts.
During this Monsoon, the state of Kerala was hit by a devastating flood, due to heavy rain all the dams got filled with water which was beyond there capacity. As a result, there was an enormous loss of infrastructure and millions of people suffered and a lot many died. Our Army came to the rescue and helped the people in need, people around the world donated food and other resources to support the state rebuild.
Everyone may think the cause was the unusual amount of rain, but if we think deeper the real reason is us. Due to deforestation and global warming, the climate pattern has changed dramatically. Ice caps are melting which is already increasing the water level, and with such rain, floods are imminent. Just recently the states of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh have been issued a flood warning due to the release of an excess of water from China.
We all know that water compromises 70% of the earth. If all the glaciers melt then eventually all the land masses will ultimately be covered in water. So we need to act now because the sooner we realise the problem, the earlier we can come up with the solutions. Some solutions which I can think of are
->To transfer the excess of water from one place to other where water is scarce.
->To move the water under the earth to replenish underground water reserves.
-> Building dams to store excess of water during Monsoon season.
These are just solutions which I could think of, but if we all come together, then we can surely come up with better solutions to save humanity.
