Keep these in mind next time when you appear for an Interview

READING BETWEEN THE LINES IS AS IMPORTANT AS ACQUIRING THE VISION. DEALING WITH PEOPLE IN THE RIGHT WAY IS AS IMPORTANT AS DOING YOUR WORK

People often neglect the stuffs to keep in mind while appearing for job interviews specifically when it is a big firm with good salary and perks. We all know that in a long term what matters most is what have you learnt during your experience and did you enjoy doing that? Often what everyone cares about is how to crack the interviews, what subjects to study and the whole business runs around providing the same. However most of us neglect the fact that satisfaction we get after cracking a job interview is an impulsive thought. The real satisfaction over time can be achieved only by knowing the crux of the job.

Do you ask yourself , is that really you want as a job? What are the questions you should be asking to the hiring manager to get the real explanation of the job? There are honest hiring managers and then there are ones who just want to fill up their racks. It is always better to have a feeling that you did your best in knowing about the job after getting out of the room. Here are few things that you should be looking for while you appear for an Interview:

- Get to know daily to daily basis of your work responsibilities in the job.

-What is the growth of your offered job profile outside in the Market? Does that require some set of skills or can you be easily replaceable?

- How is your boss going to be, look for the traits to understand him/her and his/her working style. Where were they working before and what was their profile. Knowing where people come from is a key factor. It is the surrounding which defines a person. I remember a saying “you are average of 5 people you spent time with”. A dickhead workplace is going to make their employees also the same if they spent their a lot of years in the workplace. Knowing what is their profile tell a lot about their work experience and will they be a help to you for your job queries. If you are in the team where you can not learn from your boss and team mates, warning sign: It is not a place for you!

- Ask specific details such as if the current job role has an aspect of transitioning to other teams, get to know what are those teams? what skill set they require? Can you get to those teams directly as a separate applicant(if that is the case then you are simple wasting your time in the offered role)?. Many times people show candy bars to do the niche work. Get to know if you are transitioning how much time is it going to take? Is there a system which takes care of that or will you be responsible for any outcome may happen? Get to know how your current job might affect your career growth outside the company if anything goes wrong and the similar way inquire about the different teams and skills they require and what is the demand in the Market for the same.

I will continue writing in my next post on what are the other key things to keep in mind from career prospective.
