Gulari in second in Olympic tryouts, Pettibone is in fourth with more sailing to come

With four races in Tuesday, Detroiter Bora Gulari and teammate Louisa Chaffee are the second ranking Americans in the US Sailing World Cup Miami, Nacra 17 class.

With one US Olympic berth on the line, the team of Carolina and Mark Mendelblatt were the highest ranking US team, sitting in sixth overall. Gulari and Chaffee are in 10th place overall.

Sarah Newberry and Matthew Whitehead were the third highest Americans, in 24th place overall. And Port Huron nativce Katie Pettibone and teammate Michael Easton in the fourth Americans, sitting in 33rd place overall.

Pettibone and Easton had to do a quick repair on the hull of their boat on Monday.

The first three places went to teams from Australia, The Netherlands and Denmark.
