Keto day 6.
First weekend on Keto!
As with any other diet, the more I settle into it the easier it gets to follow it. I’m not quite there yet but I’m starting to get a system in place to measure my fat, protein, and carbs intake. I have a little notepad that helps a lot and I still have to weight most of what I eat, but I’m also loosening up on counting macros.

Three “out of the day to day routine” things happened since Friday, and breaking the routine makes me be less strict with a few things like dieting and exercising so that made this experiment more interesting-
I had a loaded weekend so had brunch out. This was way simpler than anything I tried before- I took a Blender Bottle with butter, coconut oil, and creamer with me so I could have my fat coffee (+60 fat!) with breakfast. I had a three egg Swiss cheese and ham omelette with that and googled the (approx.) nutritional content and called that a breakfast. Easy.
Work got crazy loaded so I had to skip working out Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in favor of putting a release together (fun!). This was really interesting as I calculated my initial macros accounting for working out almost every day. It was immediately noticeable how hard it was to eat all the fat I was supposed to. I re-calculated my numbers for lower activity (210 fat grams to 175) to adjust and everything felt better. I plan to up consumption as I ramp up my exercise load. I’ve been nervous about crashing when having physical activity, and my girlfriend’s friend came over and we went for an easy hike that I managed without any issues. It was not a huge test but it could have gone way worse so I’m happy about that.
Finally, I got together with a bunch of my friends to play Splatoon 2 (very fun!) and watch the season finale of GoT (damn. no more episodes for a while) and that usually means there’s a ton of delicious food, snacks, and drinks available (thanks A, W, M!). This was also *very* easy to manage- I’m having way less sugar cravings than before, I could eat pretty much all the fatty meat, guac, green veggies, and liquor that I wanted (which wasn’t much, I got a buzz pretty quick).
All in all it’s still looking very good and I’ve been feeling great. I’m very curious about how I’ll feel climbing and training, and I’ll put the diet (and my will power I guess) to the test next weekend as I’m traveling to PAX West for 5 days!
This morning’s numbers- 159 lbs, 13% body fat.
