Keto- Day Two
Yesterday went better than expected.
For the last three years -at least- I’ve very consistently had the same mix for breakfast: Oatmeal, blueberries, whey protein powder, chia and hemp seeds, almonds, and hot water. I wake up to a cup or two of coffee then eat the mix at 9 am. I know that by eleven, maybe 11:30 I’ll start having cravings and feeling hungry so I eat an apple or some carrots so I can eat lunch by 12:30. Between 2 an 5 I snack on some fruit, then have a protein bar before exercising. By the time I’m home I’m starving and usually snack while making dinner then have whatever looks tasty in the kitchen before bed.
That all changed yesterday- I had a cup of coffee at eight like usual, but at nine I changed the bowl of oatmeal for two cups of bulletproof coffee: this is two spoonfuls of coconut oil, two of butter, and one of heavy whipping cream mixed with black coffee until it looks creamy. This thing tastes like coconut latte -so so good- and adds up to 60 grams of fat, no protein, and no carbs. It also kept my mind off of food until 1 pm. Never have I ever not been fighting cravings for that long. At 1 pm I ate because it was past time to eat and again counted macros.
Bacon, Sardines, Eggs, Salmon, Spinach, Kale, and magical pink Himalayan salt for 50 grams of fat, 50 grams of protein, and 2 grams of carbs. That was a lot of food and I wasn’t even halfway through hitting my daily macros: 220 fat, 120 protein, 25 carbs.
I was worried I’d feel low energy working out or hit by the dreaded keto flu (that I’m still waiting for and afraid of tbh) so I had two cups of chicken broth and snacked on almonds before heading out to the gym. I climbed as usual without noticing anything extraordinary then came back home wondering how I’d eat the rest of the stuff. Without feeling hungry.
A butt-load of spinach, kale, heavy whipping cream, peanut butter, coconut oil, an avocado, an egg, and more magic salt did the trick. I completed the macros for my first day of Keto. So far I’m feeling OK.
This is the site I used to get my macro count: https://www.ruled.me/keto-calculator/
As a side note, I started taking a magnesium supplement because I heard from friends that it helps keep the keto flu away.

So far I’m feeling OK, I thought I’d crave carbs all the time (I mean it’s day 1 but still) and that’s not the case. Eating fat feels weird after avoiding it for so long but bacon and salmon are oh so tasty. I know it sounds like bullshit, but It’s actually hard eating enough to hit the macros.
I guess I should add some metrics- I’m 5'11, 164 lbs, and 13.5% fat according to a cheap scale.
I’m curious about how day two will go.
