What will you do if you knew you’ll be dead a year from now?

This week is my birthday, I will soon celebrate 35 rotations around our star. My life has been an amazing adventure for the past 7 years, I dropped everything, my job, my career as a Manager, I stepped out and decided to travel the world, to start my own story, a story that made sense as life did not, let me share with you why…

This all started 7 years ago when my sister called me at work to announce that my brother Christophe had an accident I did not know he would die a couple of months later at age 36 as an effect of a ruptured brain aneurysm.

Since Christophe’s death, I do the best to achieve as much as possible in this absurd life. Some days are harder than others, you might end up alone, but reading philosophers like Seneca, meeting new friends and having a positive impact on other people’s life gives me a great amount of energy.

I’d like to write more, and I will. But as I start (again) a new year with new challenges, I ask myself, what would my brother have done if he knew at 35yrs old that he will be dead at 36.

This simple thought gives me perspective even though at the end of our lives we’re all Sísyphos, we have to imagine what a meaningful life should be, not at the end of our lives as we can’t expect it, but everyday as it could be the last one.

Thank you brother for giving me the strength to never give up, it’s a an absurd life, but it’s an amazing one you inspired me.
