Dave, you don’t have the right to live in Palo Alto any more than the rest of us do. You don’t have the right to your luxurious car-centric lifestyle that clogs up your city’s streets. None of your peers do. What you do have is an obligation not to stand in the way of progress, something you and your NIMBY peers are miserably failing at.
