If you happen to be talking to someone in the exact same financial situation you’re in, then it’s probably fine. I think the stigma comes from not knowing other people’s situations, or knowing that yours and theirs are very different. I’m 4 years out of college and of my long-term friends, some are making 6-figures in finance and tech, some are in 6-figure grad school debt, some have no student debt, some are self-employed, and some are making barely over minimum wage. If we openly talked about money, I think there’s a good chance someone would get annoyed/offended quickly.
