Why blogging?

After a few years of “silence”, I’ve been tempted to publish some thoughts.

If you’re into blogging, did you ever ask yourself why? I mean, we all have something to say. But, is it worth it? Is it relevant, interesting, valuable?

There is already tons of content out there. What is the added “benefit” of our act? What is the meaning and purpose?

In the past I’ve been publishing professionally, as editor in chief for a quarterly nonprofit free-press magazine distributed nation wide in Italy. Let’s say I’ve experienced some ideas of potential scopes and challenges.

Back to the original question.

For me blogging is a way to keep a dialogue open with a larger community. To be exposed. To get a bit naked. To challenge thoughts. To share. To grow.

Now, this is mostly on the author’s side. So, is blogging selfish at core?

Possibly. The audience ultimately decides.

If we exclude technical blogs that serve a community, the line gets blurry and we enter the unknown. But human beings are social animals after all.

Before starting ask yourself what and why. If you don’t know, keep digging. Answers might come along the way, as many paths bring to the top of the mountain. Then, one day you might realize the answer lies in the journey itself.

What is your answer?
