Ice cream for me is not just a flavored dessert for summer it is something which you can eat at every season. I am a hardcore fan of Ice Creams and like me, you might be too. The happiness for me comes in many flavors from chocolate, vanilla, strawberry to fruit and others as well. But, not everything that you eat in a cone or cup is an ice-cream. Surprised enough?? Yes, that is called frozen dessert.
I bet you didn’t know about it and this is why today I have listed below the differences between the frozen dessert & ice cream below:
#1. How are they made?
Icecream is made by freezing pasteurized mix which is obtained from milk, dairy fat and/or milk products. In order to add flavor to it eggs, fruits, fruit derivates, and sweetening agents are used. While Frozen dessert is made by freezing mix which includes vegetable oils and fat with a melting point (not exceeding) 37 degrees C, milk or vegetable protein, and sweetening agents.
#2. Ice-creams and Frozen Desserts:
Ice-creams are termed as a specific dessert while Frozen desserts are termed as a generic. Any sweet eatables that are being eaten in a sweetened form are called frozen dessert and ice-cream is something that is purely made from milk and milk products.
#3. What they contain?
Somewhat ice-creams and frozen desserts both contain the same amount of calories per 100 gm. While ice-creams don’t contain bad fats but frozen desserts do.
#4. Churned and Frozen:
Yes, ice-creams are churned while frozen desserts are frozen. The ingredient used in ice-creams are churned together before they are set to be frozen and the ingredients of Frozen desserts are rest in the freezer until they are set.
#5. How to identify?
The easiest way to identify the difference between ice-creams and Frozen desserts is to see the name written on the wrapper/box/cup. An ice-cream is clearly mentioned on the packaging whereas a frozen dessert will be mentioned with a fancy name.
