Dig the bohemian within you!

Dude! You so really want that thing. Right? Those were such cool days back in the 60s, the people who have tasted freedom, the days of vigor they’ve celebrated, the peace movements, the explorations and so on…

Bro! We’re cut to the 21st century here. That’s the diversion from the era of scratching needle on a sound disk to the bohemian lifestyle. Not much difference in the essence of free and wild rather just some advancement. Take into account those countercultural folks, they’ve got the whole hippie free spirit thing going. Those barefoot walking, bandana-wearing jam band fans have been on the barricades for over a century now.

1. Absinthe is your cure

Ernest Hemingway, James Joyce, Charles Baudelaire, Pablo Picasso, and Aleister Crowley were all known absinthe drinkers. The myth that absinthe turns you into a hallucinating junkie came to life during the late 1800s. The myth is still persistent so go ahead, provoke the establishment, drink absinthe.

2. Get up-to-date

Understand that being a hippie today is a bit different than being a hippie in the 60’s and 70’s. Hippies have new ideas on different topics that deal with the changing times. So, basically, the idea is to get the trending in your head and have an all new scope for thinking over it.

3. Unleash your inner beast

Not giving two blue shits about punctuality and tidiness is just the start. Illegitimate children, homosexuality, free love, drugs, and alcoholism were the social norm among bohemians. They worked as nude models, got kicked out of restaurants and so on.

4. Question the authority

You can’t be a true hippie if you don’t realize you’re a puppet in a game you don’t understand. Challenge your belief systems. Ask yourself why you support a certain religion or political taste. Do you really believe this or are these just habits?

5. Learn their lingo

In the past and in the present day, hippies do have and had their own lingo, short forms, and slangs as does every generation. Some of them include babe, baby, chick, old lady to call their affectionate girlfriends. Cool! Isn’t it?

6. Be childlike and not childish

Hippies are defined by the world as outsiders but a lot of people regard them as subversive, childish and possibly just a little bit immature. On the other hand, it’s so powerfully mentioned, and endorsed, in the Bible: “Truly I tell you, anyone, who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” — Luke 18:17. And so does the hippies should be — Childlike and not childish.

7. Wear like Bohemians do

Wearing boho chic helps you retain the original spirit of revolt. Sure, since end 18th century, consumerism has run off with the original bohemians’ clothes. The last time, gypsy clothes were popularized by Kate Moss and Sienna Miller. But that’s a good thing if you stay in style like the bohemians do and did!

8. Spirituality is the mantra for neo-hippies

Spirituality is one of the important things for neo-hippies. If you literally wanna know the art of hippies, do some good to the world and to yourself. Study chakras, meditate and spread good things to your known people.
