Don’t you worry ‘bout a thing

The sweet strains of this Stevie Wonder song meander through my mind at 4AM. He croons confidently, assuredly that all will be well, even when we can’t see ahead to the outcome.

We spend a lot of time worrying. I certainly have, it’s likely worry has taken up a majority of my lifelong thoughts.

At first, it seems better to go over it in our mind.

Maybe that means we’re ‘taking care of it’.

What often happens though, is a negative feedback loop, a continuous parade of the same images and ideas and solutions.

Worry doesn’t just invade our thoughts, it also impacts our body. Tension between the eyebrows, stiffness in our back. Heart pounding, pounding.

If worry is counter-productive, why do we do it?

Our ego becomes overly involved as the navigator, a role for which it’s not trained, but loves to fancy itself an expert.

If we can just figure it out, we will have peace, the ego justifies.

It feels safer to try to fix whatever conundrum we find ourselves.

As we engage more deeply in our chosen spiritual practice, we learn that true peace comes from surrender. Letting go of the need to know exactly where our life is going and how it will all turn out.

Trusting that God, the Source of all life, all abundance has created a path that will best honor our unique gifts and abilities.

So how do you let go?

First, breathe and acknowledge the thoughts and emotions the ego has brought forth. Check out where you are right now, without judgement.

Tune-in to your body, feel into any spots of tension or pain. Breath life giving oxygen to those cells and invite them to receive and relax.

Sense into the energy, are you in a nourishing environment or is it amplifying your worry and anxiety?

What do you truly need to be nurtured?

Ask for that and then create it for yourself.

Feel the vibration of Source energy pouring into your mind, your heart and your body.

Invite every muscle to slowly relax and release.

The slideshow in your mind slowing and flowing into pure potential.

Ask to become an empty vessel.

Reach within to that quiet, inner flame, your Divine spark.

Even if you feel disconnected from your soul, it’s always there.

Illuminating the path when you are ready to listen and follow.

Let us not disregard the ego, it is a powerful and needed force in our lives.

Once you’ve tuned-in to your deeper soul calling, the ego manifests Source energy out into the world.

They must work in harmony, the soul receives, the ego achieves.

Ego pauses when it has no further information and waits for the next round of Divine instruction.

A beautiful dance of eternal soul and human spirit.

The holy partnership that expands your inner knowing into outer action.
