How to Talk to Your Child About Elon Musk
Brian Sack

I actually met Elon Musk in person during an interview when he talked all about his life and how he got to be who he was. I didn’t really know much about him at the time, my boyfriend just dragged me there to hear him talk.

Honestly, he seemed like a pretty bland person, and I was just waiting to get out of there (he has like no personality-kind of like an MIT student). He talked about his successes and his failures, and his geekiness as a kid, but it seemed to me the only thing that really set him apart is his willingness to actually take action on the ideas he had. Not all of his ideas worked out, but obviously one of them did in a big way.

I personally think we all have really good ideas, and dreams of building this or that or creating a company that sells this or that. It’s just that most of us come up with excuses to not follow through with them (we have kids, we don’t have the money, don’t want to take out a loan, it won’t work, etc.). For some reason in the past, Elon Musk didn’t make those excuses or he just did it anyway despite them.

These days he probably doesn’t have many excuses for not carrying them out because he’s already filthy rich.
