5 ways to make your day better with wedding technology

Technology infuses every aspect of our lives, from the moment we wake to the sound of our smartphones beeping an alarm, to a last-minute check of Instagram before going to sleep. Tech is an invaluable way of keeping in touch, staying organised, and generally participating in modern life, so it makes sense to utilise it for your wedding as well. Here is some of our favourite wedding technology to help you have a magical day.

1.Pinterest

You won’t find a more valuable tool to help you in the initial stages of your wedding planning than Pinterest. With more than 70 million active users worldwide it is a wealth of ideas, links, resources, and inspiration, giving you the ability to dream brighter than you thought possible. Pinterest is the perfect way to spend a leisurely half hour, or to productively use a few minutes while you’re waiting in a queue.

2. Wedding Party

Wedding Party is a fantastic app that lets you and your guests securely share wedding information and photos. It saves money and time and, by having a central location, means you don’t have to worry about forgetting to pass on information to anyone. It is versatile enough to be used for anything from sharing basic information, to getting your guests to help you create a unique and beautiful photobook of your relationship.

3. Drone Photography

Enjoy an eagle’s eye view of the proceedings with the use of drone photography and wedding videography. A growing number of photographers are offering this service and the results can be truly spectacular. Drones give a 360 degree perspective of your day, recording every detail you have worked so hard to perfect. You can increase the scope of your wedding video by tucking a GoPro camera into your wedding bouquet, or asking your wedding celebrant to wear one for the ceremony.

4. Charging Stations

While you certainly don’t want over-enthusiastic guests getting in the way of your photographer, you do want them to be able to take tonnes of happy photos that capture the atmosphere of your event without their batteries going flat before the end of the night. Set up charging stations so your guests can top up their batteries between your wedding and reception. You could even pick up some inexpensive selfie sticks to encourage them to take more group shots for your online wedding album.

5. Digital Photo Sharing

Choose a hashtag for your wedding for guests to use when they upload photos. Using a consistent hashtag means they can be found regardless of the social media platform they are posted on, whether it’s Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, or any other. Go one step further and have someone project a stream of these on the wall of your reception, updating them regularly throughout the proceedings to encourage everyone to keep snapping and uploading their pics.

Other wedding tech you can incorporate into your big day includes wearable tech — like an Apple watch or Swarovski Misfit- which measures your heartbeat and body temperature, giving you a unique image of your reaction during your first look and vows.

However you use technology in your wedding make sure it is in a way that feels comfortable to you so it fits seamlessly in with your event, enhancing rather than distracting from the significance of the day.
