Say “I do” in Amsterdam
Amsterdam is amazing. Stunning views, an endless choice of attractions, gorgeous food, and a refreshing atmosphere all makes for an unforgettable long weekend. Not only is Amsterdam exciting and vibrant, it is also one of Europe’s most romantic cities. Nearly 100 miles of canals are linked to 90 islands by around 1,500 bridges, giving Venice a run for its money!
If you are considering a destination wedding but don’t want the hassle of long distance flights, or fancy a tropical beach wedding, Amsterdam may be exactly the city you are searching for.

Wedding Venues in Amsterdam
Aside from getting married in the local town hall, or Gemeente, Amsterdam offers a variety of wedding venues to suit all tastes and budgets. Here are a few of my favourites.
Rode Hoed
This is Amsterdam’s most versatile wedding venues. From the front, it looks like a typical townhouse, however, step behind the facade and you will discover a venue licensed for both civil and religious wedding ceremonies. It is both picturesque and surrounded by some of the city’s best photo locations, making it easy for your photographer to get photos with considerable “wow” factor.
Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam
While there is a generous number of waterfront venues in Amsterdam, arguably none is as refined as the Waldorf Astoria. It whispers luxury at every turn, from the sublime rooms to the delicious food and first class service. Arrive by boat and have your photos taken on the jetty and around the gardens, before joining your guests in a chic celebration they will never forget.
KHL Koffiehuis
The KHL Koffiehuis is another fantastic waterfront venue, though its vibe couldn’t be more different to the Waldorf Astoria. The trendy cafe oozes charm and is one of the city’s best-loved venues. If you’re after a wedding venue in Amsterdam which will take care of you and your guests in comfort and give you a real flavour of the city, the KHL Koffiehuis is it.

Amsterdam Accommodation
As you would expect from a city of its calibre, there is a huge choice of accommodation in Amsterdam for you and your guests. The easiest choice is a hotel and as well as the usual international hotel chains, there are unique boutique pads full of local character and charm. If they opt to self-cater then your guests can experience life like a local by renting a short-stay apartment or houseboat in the city.

Planning a Wedding in the Netherlands
Planning a destination wedding in Amsterdam takes a little longer than in the UK due to the paperwork required by foreign nationals. You will need to register your intent to marry at the town hall (Gemeente) at least two weeks before the big day, bringing all the necessary documentation. Though you do not have to be Dutch to marry in Amsterdam at least one partner must be a legal resident or citizen of the Netherlands.
