The London Wedding Breakfast Club, more than just Networking…
As a London wedding planner, I work mostly on my own. For that reason, I really value networking and one of my goals for 2016 was to attend at least one networking event a month.
Having been to a number of networking events myself, I know first-hand how it feels when you’re an introvert and suddenly have to make small talk with (semi-familiar) strangers.
The London Wedding Breakfast Club (LWBC) offers something very different, as you instantly feel part of a community with a support network, and there is also the opportunity to make a valuable contribution.
I first met Lex (LWBC’s creator) back in 2015, when we both worked together on a destination styled shoot in Paris. Lex brought a real sense of fun to the shoot, so I definitely wanted in when she announced she was starting up a monthly networking breakfast club for everyone in the wedding industry. I am a big foodie, so a combination of breakfast (that I don’t have to cook myself) and wedding chat is my perfect morning.
The breakfast club is held at the contemporary restaurant and bar, Drake & Morgan, King’s Cross. The venue has a buzzing atmosphere with great spaces for hire. They offer a selection of breakfast dishes, which are included in the ticket price (of just £20!), plus as much tea and coffee as you can drink.
Two talks are also included in the price. Given by club attendees, these can offer advice and tips on the month’s topic. Recent talks have included pricing, your ideal client, preparing for wedding fairs and social media.
Not only is it a good way to get out the office and network, LWBC also opens up huge opportunities for collaboration. An awesome team of wedding suppliers who I met there helped create my recent styled shoot (which featured on Way Out Wedding). I felt both comfortable and at ease planning and styling this shoot as I regularly had breakfast with them.
LWBC has delivered so much value that I cannot imagine what my situation would be like without it. It’s the perfect opportunity for me to speak with fellow wedding suppliers who are going through the same things as me, so it truly is the best therapy.
Lex does a fantastic job organising two breakfasts a month, plus evening socials, which is not an easy job (trust me, I know).
So, if you are looking for a friendly bunch of people from the wedding industry to chat to and network with, then come along and check it out!
