Wine & Weddings in Milan

I love my job as a London wedding planner and the work I do planning destination weddings makes it all the more varied and exciting.

I was honoured to be invited by Wine&Wedding to attend an exhibition in Milan last week. BIT is an International Travel Exhibition that brings together decision makers, industry experts and carefully selected targeted buyers from various geographical areas.

This year was the first that BIT had collaborated with experts in the wedding industry and I was delighted to be part of it.

I first met the cheerful ladies from Wine&Wedding at a London wedding fair. They design, plan and manage weddings at top venues located in the most charming of Italian landscapes, including wine-growing areas of architectural beauty.

This year’s BIT was located for the first time at Fieramilanocity (the city’s innovative exhibition centre) and MiCo (one of the largest congress centres in the world) and was spread across 3 floors. The first floor was focused on Italy, where I met with representatives from Marche, Tuscany, Abruzzo and Calabria, and there were exciting booths with representatives from Europe, Africa and the Caribbean on the other two floors.

The event’s co-organisers organised our flights to Milan and 4-star accommodation. They also coordinated various events during our stay in Milan and we were lucky enough to be treated to lunch every day.

A transfer from Malpensa airport to the city centre is relatively simple — the express train to the city cost me just 13€. Milan also has a convenient metro system and hailing a taxi proved very easy.

I was very privileged to befriend two lovely ladies during my trip who were also attending the exhibition. One was an experienced tour leader and the other an Italian specialist tour operator. They took me to the best restaurants, coolest bars and trendiest shopping district while showing me the beautiful city. (One day, we walked more than 14km). I definitely saw Milan with fresh eyes and will be back in Italy very soon.

I am thankful to Wine&Wedding for inviting me to Milan and found BIT to be the perfect place to both expand and deepen my knowledge of Italy, generate new business contacts and network while having fun.
