My ex-wife is running for office — a top ten list

“Yes, my ex-wife is running for office” the responses to that statement vary widely. Some say “do you have any dirt on her?” others respond with “how does that make you feel?” and the most hilarious comment is “will you be supporting her opponent?”

Divorce is rarely easy and while we did not work as a married couple, we are close friends. So close in fact that my ex-wife, Dusty Sparrow Reed, asked me to play a role in her wedding last year and it was an honor for me to do so. How and why are we friends? The answer is a simple. We did it for our children. Ages 11, 9, and 7, they are our hearts with legs, they provide us with our greatest joys in life, and they are all enrolled in Loudoun County Public Schools. We share custody and live down the street from one another in a situation that was crafted in the best interest of our family.

Dusty and I work together to manage the stress that comes with careers, their schooling, coaching sports, chauffeuring children to and from events, and managing the very busy lives of our three very active children.

Top Ten Reasons I believe Dusty will do a fabulous job if elected to the LCPS School Board:

1) Organizational Brilliance — Dusty is organized and efficient in her style and management of tasks and activities, unlike anyone I’ve ever seen.

2) Committed — when Dusty makes a decision and commits, she will work hard to see the commitment through.

3) Courageous — Dusty is fearless, especially when it comes to defending the rights and lives of children, she will not stand down.

4) Blended Intelligence — Dusty’s balance of IQ and EQ is legendary.

5) Co-operative nature — for someone that turned a divorce into a positive relationship and has worked to create a situation where co-parenting is easier apart than it was together, I can’t wait to see what she can do for our children as a representative on the School Board.

6) Balanced — Dusty is fair in her evaluation of situations and her responses and actions are measured and balanced.

7) Strategic — it is rare for someone to have the vision to plan strategically and also the ability to execute tactically, Dusty has both.

8) Passionate — Dusty’s passion for learning, travel and children, help to gain an outside perspective as to how things work, or should work.

9) Leadership — Dusty has never been afraid to step up, she is often chosen for leadership roles, and she has performed well as a leader in all areas of life.

10) Competitive — Dusty has always performed well in school and her competitive spirit will serve us well to make LCPS the best that it can be.

Yes, I am supporting my ex-wife and voting for her on 11/3/2015 in the Catoctin District for a seat on the Loudoun County School Board. If elected, I am confident that Dusty will have a positive impact on our educational system, and she will work for what is best for all of our children.
