Agreed, but Craig is mostly referring to a psychological, emotional, theoretical, spiritual, conceptual, political, sociological, progressive devaluation of music in general. And, he’s right. There is definitely something very pernicious going on. Difficult to articulate, but it’s there.
Or, maybe we were just spoiled by the rich artistic explosion that happened in the mid 20th Century. Hard to say. Perhaps two world wars had something to do with it. I’m not advocating for more war to revive the arts, but, perhaps a rehumanizing is in order.
