Why I started to write (in english)

First of all: english is not my mother language. Despite the eventual troubles to clearly express my thoughts, I love english. I always have. I admire it, and would like to be as eloquent as I am in my native language.

As long as I remember, I wanted to learn english better. Perhaps because of the videogames I’ve played during my childhood. Back in that days there was almost none in Portuguese. Or maybe because I always wanted to know how the world function, and english is the most effective way to comunicate when traveling abroad.

Since I was a kid, I’m a compulsive reader. In my primary years, I used to spend many hours in the library during the classes breaks with my best friend, walking through the book shelves. Rounding, feeling the books sweet smell, and imagining how our future would be, what great surprises life would have for us.

Some books that I’ve read during my childhood, about 20 years ago, are still vivid in my memory. I just love the power that books have to transport us to far and magical lands, to make us fly or cry at some moments.

Writing is also a passion, as strong as my passion to read. I write since I’m 14 years old. Mostly in my native language. During my masters degree I needed to develop my skills of english writing. Every writer has an internal fire, a feeling that cannot be contained, that overflow in form of texts.

I started to write in english not only to improve my writing skills, but to express myself better in a different language and to become culturally richer.
