Here are my thoughts on The Last of Us 2 after finishing the whole game.

Before I start…What does The Last of Us mean to me? I was 20 when the first game came out and it definitely wasn’t the best time for me. I was having issues with self-doubt and depressive moments. Nothing too much but it was enough to weigh down on me.

The Last of Us came out in the summer and gave me a chance to escape reality for a while, to dive into this new and interesting world and forget about my daily issues. Apart…

One of the biggest threats to modern society is automation and we should start discussing serious solutions before its too late.

Don’t believe me? Let me explain.

What is automation?

When people think about automation and work, they often imagine robots operating within a manufacturing environment. A key thing to understand, however, is that automation and robotics are two distinctly different things. Yes, crossovers exist between the two, but to appreciate the nuances of the technology, it’s a good idea to keep them separate in your mind.

Automation is the term used when describing a process or task performed by software or a…

When I was little, I loved watching sci-fi movies and playing games with flying cities, spaceships that traverse the universe and technology that looks like magic.

As you know, none of these things have happened yet. But why?

Energy.

Even though I write this on my laptop at night, heating my room using electricity coming from a complex electrical grid, we are nowhere near technologically advanced as the common depictions in science fiction or the dreams I had as a little boy. And energy is probably the biggest reason why we can’t yet live in the skies. …

Several years ago, an acquaintance of mine shared an idea with me. I became obsessed with it. He gathered a team and we spent the next year and a half working really hard at it, but unfortunately, it never materialized into a profitable business. And so, we failed.

I will not mention names or blame anyone for this…

When I speak to people about my sheer love of space exploration and amazement at organizations like SpaceX and NASA, I often hear this:

“Why should we spend money going to Mars when we have so many problems here on planet Earth?

Well, here’s the short answer - because of technology transfer. That was it. You can go now! Although, if you want to know what that means and how important it is, keep on reading.

After watching “The Long Night” (Game of Thrones S08E03), I had a very sour taste in my mouth. I discussed the episode with friends, browsed online and quickly realized that I’m not an outlier. In fact, a few weeks later and after the 8th season finished, a million disappointed fans signed a petition to remake the show. So, what caused this reaction and what can aspiring writers (or anyone, really) learn from it?

Note — This article IS NOT about Game of Thrones specifically, even though we’ll be referencing the series throughout. …
