JQUERY?

So Codeacademy has been going pretty well. Their tutorials are good, just enough hand holding to get you through, but sometimes the descriptions can be a little hard to understand. Plus I don’t like the way they use their curly brackets on Javascript, it makes it harder to read.
I’m onto jQuery , and I’m glad that I bothered to do the Javascript section first. It makes the whole thing a lot easier to digest. But I’m not entirely sure what to do next. I’ve been looking into cross-platform app creators like Appcelerator, but they’re such an arse to get working. Especially when I’m using my work laptop because I have to be on site to get IT to allow me to install on it. I lost my admin rights when I upgraded the OS without asking and fucked the laptop up. Oops, but I wanted to see if it worked with Apple TV. It didn’t.
There are a few concepts that are sitting in my bottom drawer waiting to get made. The longer I’m in advertising the more apparent it is that you need to be able to create the things that you’re concepting. Not only because it helps you think in a more informed way, but because clients don’t always buy the ideas you love and the worst thing is a great idea that doesn’t get made.
One thing I’ve been doing, thanks to a lot of help from our head of innovation Michael Naman, is creating 3D environments out of divs using CSS. It’s quite cool because I can make the floor move and make it feel like you’re moving forward through a tunnel. I’m thinking of making a Contra style resume where we fly around shooting bad guys with our explosive mind bullets. It’s going to take a while to get there but watch this space.
