We live in Pennsylvania and were devastated by the election results. As luck would have it, we had a trip planned to visit Toronto and see the rock band N.Q. Arbuckle. We found the Canadians very empathetic — but your point is well-taken. We North Americans are a pretty complacent bunch. If we don’t participate in democracy we end up with results that may not reflect our values. And by “participate” I do mean getting involved beyond showing up at the polls once very four years. Time will tell. But we found the Canadian people to be cheerful and optimistic. We even enjoyed your immigrant cab drivers…
