A majority of people collecting food stamps and using other government programs HAVE jobs. Walmart is the #1 employer in my state for most employees collecting food stamps, as well as #1 in the nation. We need to examine what has become the acceptable business model for fast food chains and big box stores: pay low wages, keep hours less than 40 a week, and let the government provide health care and food support for private sector employees.

If you live in middle or rural America, go find a job that pays $18 an hour. Good luck. You’ll likely get $12. Find a one bedroom apartment in a medium size city that’s less than $600 a month. People can’t make ends meet, and the system is set up that way to maximize profits for the millionaires and billionaires and to distribute living employee living expenses to the tax payers.
