You may know that The Times recently started up a free, weekly, online “Canada Letter” ( ), which might be their tentative attempt to do a better job of covering Canada (I believe The Times also beefed up its Canadian staff). Add decent coverage of major Canadian concerns and developments to The Times’ already-stellar world news, cultural coverage, etc. and you might well have the basis for a stronger push to sell subscriptions north of the 49th parallel. Might a similar approach work in other overseas markets?
