AUGUST VON DER HEYDTE CAPTURED 1945 AID FOR THE ENEMY — Lieutenant-Colonel August Von der Heydte, 37-year-old commander of Nazi spearhead parachute troops in Rundstedt’s drive, received treatment from American Medical Corps men. He was captured in a wood, giving himself up when the Americans advanced. With him are Captain Albert J. Haft, of Syracuse, New York and Lt.-Col. John R. Woodruff, of Dayton, Ohio. 1 January 1945.
