Hey William, so the first thing you should know is that I made it!!! — 15 days without eating. The second thing you should know is that after day 4 you won't feel hungry.

I am going to do a few more updates on the whole experience but by far the hardest thing I had to overcome was the psychological effects of not eating. Life felt dull and lifeless like I was a ghost wandering around in the world. The ritual of eating is a very strong evolutionary force. We use it to explore new places, towns countries; we use it to bond with friends and family; we use it for comfort and boredom too and this was one of the realisations I had — you can overcome this and be conscious of the ways you use food. The other hard thing is the weakness I felt in my body. Now don't get me wrong I could still do manual stuff, drive, and I even went surfing, but I wouldn't go to work in a manual job where I had to do stuff all day, It would just be too much. Walking up a hill will have you panting like you just sprinted up it.

If you’re going to have a crack at 10 days, prepare yourself beforehand by quitting carbs, sugar and caffeine, 7–10 days before, and realise you will have to have juice and liquid food for at least a few days after before gradually letting your body to get used to solid food again. It’s been a week since I finished the fast now and I’m only just getting back on track. Make sure you have a supportive environment and take time off work.

I wish you well, sir. I hope you achieve your goals.

all the best

Pete.
