Are we WHO we think we are?

If I think I am Napoleon, does that make me Napoleon?

Our cat Peppy for example seriously thinks he is a dog. He bites occasionally but he bites out of love not out of aggression. He is pure Love!

Yet just yesterday he bit my wife while she was holding him and being on the phone at the same time. She was talking to her brother in Hungarian for about half an hour. Just at the end, Peppy bit her in the arm suddenly. She screamed out loud as the bite was a nasty one which really hurt her.

I think Peppy had enough of listening to a foreign language too long. Nobody likes to having to put up with a foreign language being spoken around them that they don’t understand. Humans or animals.

I suppose it’s our fault, we should have taught him Hungarian in these past 18 years since we had him. Or should I say since he had us?

For he has got us big time!

Peppy is the centre point of our home and I am not exaggerating. For example we have been thinking about downsizing lately. I know this sounds crazy but I have asked Peppy if we should move or should stay🤔?

Peppy categorically signalled he does not want to move house. Period!

Obviously this was a wordless communication between us: it was him lying on my chest as on the picture above. He enjoys rubbing his nose against my face and purrs away like no tomorrow. He has been doing this for at least 3 hours every evening for these past 18 years.

Cats` purring resonates through their entire body and it gets transferred into those who hold them. In return it is good to talk to them.

Animals, just like children, need to know they are loved and they belong. Talking to them for longer periods of time, resonating to them reassures them of just that. We all need reassurance after all.

As Peppy is getting older, he gets more and more attached to us.

Right now as I am writing this, He is lying on my chest as usual with his head by my ear. More importantly though his heart is right on top of my heart. I don’t think that there is more than an inch distance between our two hearts. It is literally heart to heart!

Hearts are special. Perhaps more special than we think!

Our hearts are separate entities that have their own separate laws.

I`d heard it said that human hearts have their own mini brains attached to them. Apparently these mini-brains work independently from our main brains. If this is true, then we have 2 brains. The main brain reigns from the head as usual , based on facts and evidence and as such they are our Objective brains.

Our heart-brain on the other hand works according to the dictates of the heart, based on emotions, feelings, intuitions and gut feelings.

As such they are our Subjective brains. The problem is that these two competing brains are telling us two completely different stories.

It`s no wonder my head is spinning around at times like a merry-go-round!

This answered a lot of my questions of why I had made seemingly crazy decisions in the past. Decisions that normal people would never had made. Decisions that only fools or idiots would have made.

I have made so many of them, they became the normal eventually.

The question is: if we do crazy, foolish even idiotic things regularly, do they become our new normal? This brings me to the phrase : New Normal.

Do you remember during the pandemic this phrase being used in the media all the time? When I heard it first during the first lockdown in March 2020, it was suggesting that we have entered a new chapter on planet Earth.

To all of us, probably for the very first time ever, something new applied , regardless of who we were. Beggar on the street or royalty in palaces, we were all in danger of catching Covid. There was nowhere to hide, no place was safe on earth. Not even in hospitals or especially not in hospitals?!

Heads of state with all their security systems in place were just as in danger as we mortals were. Back then, we did not know if this new normal will be with us for the rest of our lives or not.

By the time the second lockdown came , it looked like the new normal was imbedded into us already! The abnormal future was here to stay.

Peppy our purrfect cat who thinks he is a dog is hopefully not abnormal.

I think it’s a typical trait of all Burmese cats. They all fetch a rubber band or a rolled up foil paper ball if you throw it away for them. They will bring it back happily again and again and put it down in front of you, just like dogs do. Is that normal or abnormal?

Maybe we should be more flexible about what normal or abnormal is.

In any field of Life, not just about cats acting like dogs: biting or fetching etc. Could we learn a lot more from our pets and other animals if we thought more of them?

If we `saw` their hearts beating within them, animating them… would we think more of them and treat them better? After all, how we treat those within our powers is a true measure of how advanced and how noble we as a civilisation are.

Are we a heartless, violent civilisation or a harmless, peace loving one?

Just imagine if at any second the James Webb interstellar space telescope finds traces of Life in the Cosmos! It could happen as I `speak`!

Just imagine what manic activity there would be amongst scientists, biologists, physicists, theologians and all of us if that happened?

Would that turn everything on its head down here in Earth?

Would you see our current rule books flying out of university windows then? For that would be the herald of the penultimate New Cosmic Normal!

If we ended up having extra-terrestrial visitors here on Earth one day, would they find here a real Paradise which we could be proud of?

How about today then? How about right now? Let us be honest!

Ultimately are we humans who we think we are?

Are we who we pretend to be or are we what evidence shows who we are?

Evidence such as our wars, such as the money we make out of our exploitation of the weaker, such as forced child labour, such as animal cruelty in slaughter houses, such as abusing our ecology for the sake of profits for shareholders etc…and this list just goes on and on!

Are we actually a planet, full of hypocrites if we really think about it… and one of them being myself?

Have we ended up making this beautiful Blue-Green home of ours into a planet of `Napoleons` who salute themselves in the mirror all day?

There are a lot of smoking guns around unfortunately, both literally as well as metaphorically speaking that point to something that`s gone catastrophically wrong here!

Wouldn`t we in each country have to quickly hide our skeletons in the cupboard, before we could show our precious visitors around in the world we have made?

I think we all know the answer to that question.

Would you agree it’s time to change it ? Like right now? Like right here?

Conclusion: Let`s not waste any more lives and any more time!

Let us each be that change we would like to see in our world!

Perhaps it`s still not too late!
