Darren Moore

One of the biggest scandals in football is the treatment of this guy, Darren Moore.

People say black managers would be in the top jobs if they were better, this guy has a better record in the Premiership as a stand-in manager than most full-time managers. He’s led a club into the playoffs only to be sacked before the playoffs began, took a club in financial ruin back up and to a competitive level only to have his contract terminated by 'mutual' agreement before the new season started in a higher league than he joined them.

Huddersfield clearly stated I’m press statements that this guy changes cultures, breeds success, they know his talent and his worth, he should be managing a Premiership side, yet he has to beg a living in the lower leagues.

We have got some ex players getting the top jobs I the Premiership and elsewhere with no experience or with experience that’s laughable, yet a proven success has to make do with scraps.

The obvious response from some will be “how does thos have anything to do with his skin colour?” Well not everything is black and white, it’s the context that matters here, his face doesn’t fit, his demands that many other managers would make are declined. Big Sam walks into a club or Alan Pardew and it’s turn upside down as they do their thing and then walk away richer regardless of where the club ends up, so why does a proven success have to do something special above and beyond them to get the same respect? Taking Sheffield Wednesday up was a major achievement given the circumstances that was above and beyond yet his opinions and suggestions on a transfer plan were rejected and told to just play his role or walk… which he did just that, laced up his shoes and walked.

It’s an absolute disgrace the way this guy is treated in football by club owners. Let’s not pretend it’s down to ability as we all know he has that so what else is there stopping clubs trusting a guy who has never let anyone down?

In a wider context this is what non whites have to deal with, we are ridiculed like the Guyanese president recently on GMB when he spoke about reperations. In a world that was not built for our succes but instead for our subordination and exploitation, we are still to this day fighting institutionalised and unconscious bias. “Work twice as hard” is the common phrase used in non white households as a way to teach children you have to go above and beyond to be considered equal. Darren Moore is a present day example of this.

I wish him well at Huddersfield, I’m making them my non Premiership team while he’s there.
