I am not fluent in the Internet of Things but what is clear to me is that it, and ongoing technological evolution, will lead to tremendous market change as information is generated and converted into knowledge. As marketers we must participate actively in this knowledge creation and and find ways to enhance the customer experience.
For example, how will car insurance change as massive and personalized data on driving and maintenance habits become available, if you use ride-share, car-share, Uber, public transportation or driver-less cars, tracking that tells your insurance carrier if you use the safest or the fastest route. Will everyone have a “transportation” insurance that adjusts in real time to the transportation medium you are using?
Lots of questions, everything will change, very fast.
