Electronic ankle bracelets
Certain criminals are punished time and time again, because most criminals do not stop their criminal practices after their imprisonment. So governments are failing, they maintain a lot of crime because they do not change their failing policy. Governments give certain criminals the opportunity to continue their criminal practices, because they don’t monitor certain criminals (sufficiently) after their imprisonment.
Governments need to adjust the law, judges must always demand an electronic ankle bracelet for certain crimes and those criminals must pay for that electronic ankle bracelet. Their punishment must be a prison sentence and a certain period with an electronic ankle bracelet, and the seriousness of the crime and the chance of recurrence determines how long one has to wear it (months or years). An electronic ankle bracelet increases the chance that criminals will adjust their behaviour, and it might encourage certain criminals (thiefs/burglars/etc) to look for a job. The application of those electronic ankle bracelets will have several advantages, the crime rate will decrease, the costs for society will decrease, and there will be less victims.
Certain sex offenders should wear an electronic ankle bracelet for life, they will not change their behavior. There have been many victims of repetitive sex offenders, but the governments didn't change that failing policy. A lot of crime could be prevented, and fighting crime is like mopping with the tap open. Certain criminals will only stop if they are monitored for a long period, and a long prison sentence must be imposed if one takes off the electronic ankle bracelet. Many victims would still be alive if sex offenders or violent criminals had to wear an electronic ankle bracelet for a long period after their imprisonment, it would reduce the chance of recurrence enormously.
What would politicians do if one of their children/relatives becomes the victim of a sex offender or violent criminal?, would they demand an electronic ankle bracelet or would they still give them a chance to make more victims. With the current policy the sex offenders and certain criminals have the right to repeat themselves, and governments still don't seem to realize that it's madness and a disgrace. Politicians should be obliged to spend a day with the vice squad, they should be obliged to talk to victims and they should be obliged to look at the most horrible images/video's of child abuse. Then they will realize how absurd/scandalous the current policy is and how absurdly low the prison sentences are in certain countries, and they need to realize that it's absurd that certain criminals are released.
I warned the politicians in my country years ago, they ignored me, they didn’t care that several children/women were killed by sex offenders and those politicians also gave other sex offenders the chance to make more victims. Dangerous sex offenders can even go on leave if they behave themselves in prison, that is madness, some killed more children/women because they were not monitored. Dangerous criminals are actors, they just act as if they changed their behavior. When is it enough?, so many victims or their relatives have a lifelong trauma because the politicians are lax. Governments will probably continue with that failing policy, criminals apparently have more rights than the victims or their relatives.
