I operate in the adventure travel industry. It is full of small owner operated businesses that create and deliver unique life enhancing services for their clients delivered by passionate expert guides. I see hundreds of millions of VC dollars coming into the industry totally focused on the next big “website” or “app” that does nothing more than resell product and services to make a margin. VC money trying to make a product that should never be a commodity into a commodity and then startups celebrating raising X $ for that unique great idea of taking existing product/services and reselling them. I just do not get it.
