There are fine lines between describing life. If we would call everything that’s moving alive, the planets circling the sun would be alive.
If we would call everyhing that’s growing alive, cystals would be alive.
If we would call everything that’s reproducing alive, crystals and viruses would be alive.
If we would call molecules that are present in life forms already life itself, then everything containing these molecules, like a stone from space, which is clearly dead, would be “alive”.
If we would presume that these molecules are from outer space; while we are part of that space ourselves containing the very same moluceles; and then presume life as we know it is from outer space, we would make a joke out of ourselves/ although its a very funny story to tell :-)))
If we consider everything containing about the same qualities we have, as living beings, to be alive, then it should have a self determining ability to choose its own future, be mobile; while reacting and collecting energy; being able to reproduce itself and grow. Everything outside these categories is not alive.
So, planets are not alive, molecules are not alive, scrystals are not alive, virusses are not alive and alas even plants are not alive.
