When it sounds too good to be true, it’s probably not true.

I love the idea, but there are a lot of hurdles to overcome. Because no longer self owned cars would make far less profit for car builders, they would not be interested. You need an outsider.

Self driving cars will have a huge trust threshold in general. You would need a community to step over completely/ or a limited driving risk, like an owned ground. Smaller islands might take a chance, when someone refunds all their cars. You get a brandnew one/ only it’s not yours anymore…

Another possibility is switching your electric car to selfdrive. The driver still is responsible and it would not arouse suspicion, because there still is someone behind the steering wheel. That seems to be the best option for me for now, although there are a lot of creative solutions to ponder.
