A very good piece, Emma. What I say to you about this is, be you. If someone doesn’t like you for who you are, that’s their loss, not yours. There is no such thing as not being gay enough or not being straight enough for a community. I had a girlfriend who later disliked me because I would help with the cooking and laundry, but now I know that despite her vicious insults, it had nothing to do with my sexual orientation (which she made it about) and everything to do with the fact that she was the wrong woman.
