I can relate. I found my first year at university (aged 18) was terribly daunting. I was clueless, socially, and since I had been ostracised by my fellow students at high school, I tended to gravitate towards Asian students (I majored in Japanese), but unlike high school, they didn't gravitate towards me (okay, I had a few at my second university) and it caused issues.
