““What if you run out of power?”
What if you run out of gas? I don’t even understand this question.”
Is somewhat either deliberately missing the point, or, well, just missing the point. If you run out of gas, you just get some, put it in the tank and drive off. You can’t put a battery in a can and walk it back to the car, and you can fill a car with 80 litres of fuel in 2 minutes, taking you as far as 2 hours even at a supercharger will take you.
So — it’s all true, I’ve got an i3 and a plug in XC90, which are both great, but it’s disingenuous to suggest there aren’t issues. Not least, try charging a Tesla on a standard plug and see how far you’re going to get in the morning — yes, it’s rare people do long journeys, but when they do they generally want the car they’re already paying for for it.
