Scottish Deerhound makes an interesting family companion because of his amazing traits and physical features. Known as the “Royal Dog of Scotland,” this Deerhound appears intimidating for some, but he’s loving and affectionate. Do you want to know more about him? Here’s additional information about this large greyhound:

He has a high prey drive. When the home he’s living in has a yard, it should be securely fenced. No underground electronic fence can stop this dog from chasing his prey.

Because of his drive to go after other animals, this dog shouldn’t be kept with household pets smaller than him. Unsocialized Scottish Deerhound means you have a large dog always chasing other smaller pets at home.

He’s not ideal in apartments or condominium units because of his size. Though he’s quiet and has low energy levels indoors, he still needs enough room to move and stretch.

He needs to always be on a leash whenever going out for a walk to prevent him from suddenly running away.

Consult your veterinarian Chesapeake, VA about the best practices to safeguard your pet’s health and well-being.
