You bring up a fair point and the answer is probably yes: technology like this could and would be used by corporations for profit, and it’s likely to be highly addictive in nature. Technologies like this rarely come in sudden breakthroughs though, but evolve and improve over time, which also leaves time for public discussion and regulations to evolve along with it, just like we are seeing now with the discourse around the addictive nature of social media and online games.

In the times we live in now, I’d say this is just one of a long line of potential technological breakthroughs ahead of us that carry enormous power and responsibility with them.
