“Don’t you care about the environment?” — My friend asks me, concerning one of the many vices I have and how I live in general. I shrug. On the one hand, I do, but on the other hand I don’t.

I do care about it because the environment is nice to look at, it gives me air to breathe and cute animals live there. Have you seen Capybaras with birds on their heads? I don’t want their world ruined because I need some cheap product.

But I don’t care because life is short and meaningless. Not to mention, I’ll be dead before this planet becomes inhospitable. So why sacrifice fun and vice for some future I’ll not even be around to enjoy? Seems excessive. But that’s my selfishness talking, and I’m always skeptical of his point of view.

But I do recycle and buy ecologically grown bananas.

I don’t have kids. And that might be my biggest contribution to cutting carbon emissions completely by accident.

Well, that and not having enough money to be an international man of mystery that’s flying everywhere.
