An Open Letter to the bewildered Hillary supporter,

Well there you go. You went and did it. After months of cockiness, and laughing at anyone who might say Trump could win, the unthinkable happened. Donald Trump won. After months of being mocked by Democrats on CNN and conservatives like Ben Shapiro on Fox, it turns out the polls really don’t matter. I’ve been saying it all along, and I’ve been ridiculed every step of the way. And get this, grouping half of Trump’s supporters into your “basket of deplorables” and publicly shaming them is not a good way to get them to vote blue. You spent months blindly denouncing anyone who agreed with Trump as racist, sexist, and Islamophobic. “Why am I not 50 points ahead?” Hillary asked, and she wasn’t even kidding. One of the least liked candidates in history, and she honestly couldn’t wrap her head around the fact that people weren’t all that inclined to vote for the woman who regularly insulted them. And how do you react? Do you try to extend an olive branch to the other side? Do you try to gain their support, so you have some semblance of a chance of winning it all back in 4 years? No. You riot and loot. You burn things in the streets. You blame systematic racism for Trump’s win, ignoring the fact that seven states who went blue twice for Obama voted for Trump this time around. You call it a fascist “whitelash,” and say “he’s not your president.” Well I hate to break it to you, but he is your president, and no amount of childish complaining is going to change anything. You’re only furthering the divide. I promise, Trump is not going to drag women and disabled people out of their homes. He is not going to rain down on innocent minorities with marshall law, because Trump is not “literally Hitler.” Hitler killed millions of innocent people. Trump called Rosie O’Donnell fat. There is a difference between mass genocide and telling the plain truth. Now believe me, I’ve got nothing to gain from the another Hillary winning in four years, in fact I’d say I’ve got a whole lot to lose, but If you want Obama’s America back, you need to find some middle ground. Give us another Bernie Sanders. Become the party for the people you have always bragged about being, instead of the party for wall street and billionaire elitists like George Soros. Abandon the trigger warning, special snowflake culture. There aren’t 72 genders. Your party’s unholy matrimony with the social justice movement is only discrediting you and forcing conservatives and older liberals away. It is time to reform. It is your duty to accept defeat here and now, but you are not defeated in the long run. The pendulum of power is constantly swinging from one side to the other, and even your own candidates said the peaceful transition of power is the hallmark of our democracy. Barack Obama himself said that when he theorized Trump supporters would riot upon their candidate losing. And now that the tides have turned, he and Hillary have fallen silent. It’s time for some real change. To quote Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, “You lost today kid, but that doesn’t mean you have to like it.” You don’t have to like Trump, in fact you can hate him, but destroying businesses in your own neighborhood is not solution. Regroup, Reform, and someday you will once again come out on top. The first step is to accept why you lost, and fix it.
