DNC as it turns out is not just the first part of the #DNCleaks hashtag. I google searched “DNC” last night and this was the result:
This wave of leaks stealing the spotlight from the actual Democratic Convention is probably really upsetting to Democrats because it is ruining their chance of positive exposure. However, once I saw this clip of Lena Dunham cringing through 5 minutes of “speech” I realized these leaks covering up the actual content of the convention may well be the best thing to happen to the Democrats.
The leaks themselves are creating a giant mess for the DNC as they prove that the DNC favored Hillary over Bernie from the start and used all sorts of sordid tactics to ensure Bernie did not get the nomination. While these are bothersome enough, the conspiracy theories emerging about the origin of the leaks, from the Russians to the more sinister, only add to the DNC’s troubles.
There has been plenty of other chaos at the DNC including nearly incessant boos from the crowd and protests outside the event. Bernie supporters who donated money to a candidate who promised to change the establishment and then ended up giving all the money to maintain the establishment feel betrayed by the man and the party.
This horde of rabble rousers have had to be kept out of the convention with a series of walls, one around the stage, and another around the entire venue. Apparently Democrats are more worried about Bernie supporters in their own party more than immigrants coming in from across the U.S. border. In fact climb over the wall at the DNC and you will get arrested, climb over the wall to get into the country illegally, and you get a speaking spot at the convention.
In many ways the Bernie protestors are noble for sticking with their convictions, walking out, and standing on principal. But don’t be too quick to overestimate their intelligence. If you are going to set a flag on fire, make sure you set the flag on fire and not you, as that gets into a whole different kind of protest. Craziness aside, say what you want about the DNC, they are at least a representative bunch. From the DNC schedule here are some of the events and speakers.
- The Black Caucus
- The Hispanic Caucus
- Native American Council
- Ethnic Council
- Disability Council
- LGBT Caucus
The list goes on, but as a white male I was looking for what group I could fit into. As far as I could tell, I have neither council nor caucus. I figured I must fit into the “Ethnic Council” because I am sure white person is what they mean by “Ethnic.” If not, maybe “Caucus” is short for Caucasian and I can join any “Caucus.” I’ll just assume that for now.
If the DNC has taught us anything, it has taught us that no matter what we cannot vote for Donald Trump. Sure maybe Hillary Clinton is a horrible person who has supported everything contrary to what Bernie Sanders believed in, and sure Bernie Supporters basically had a giant lump of poo smeared across their candidate by the DNC (whose disgraced chairman is now joining Hillary Clinton), but at least Hillary Clinton is not Donald Trump, and that is what matters. People have been egging me on to watch the TV show House of Cards for the excitement, backstabbing and intrigue. I was about to get on board, but have realized the DNC email leaks have all that and more and unlike the TV show, these are real.
