Your Guacamole Is Hurting Mexican Forests

Americans who live in “decent” climates should plant an avocado seed/tree or two (or more if you have a farm). We planted an avocado seed about 5 years ago, and by the 3rd year it yielded more avocados than we could eat, so we gave some to our neighbors. Last year’s yield was not quite as good, but still enough for us for quite awhile, and it looks like it will be the same this year. We live in drought-stricken CA so have watering restrictions, but still have a “bountiful harvest”. You might buy some avocados from a couple of places, and plant the seed of the one you find most tasty. That’s what we did 5 years ago, and the tree is now close to 2 stories tall! Try it!
